Thanks for the excellent suggestions. I would be very interested in
these enhancements.

Subject: [IUG] What MFHD enhancements needed?
Not seeing any III enhancments for MARC21 Format for Holdings Data
(MFHD) this go 'round, I'd like to work with anyone interested in
writing some up. Our serials holdings are not yet in MFHD, partly
because we see there's currently little III way to allow them to be
integrated with other systems. Unless I've missed it???
Here's some MFHD enhancements that comes to mind, perhaps not fully
baked:
1. The ability to export this data out of III, especially in a format
loadable for OCLC Local Holdings Records (LHRs) that affect ILL. (or is
this currently possible?)
2. A way for outside systems to dynamically read and display our MFHD
holdings, like OCLC Resource Sharing, so there would be no need to keep
them up to date outside III
3. A way to batch import MFHD info. from OCLC to III, if it can't be
done the other way. (already possible?)
4. A way for WebBridge to datatest against a site's own detailed MFHD
info., for a serial owned locally in paper
I would love to have input on these, or hear about more MFHD related
enhancments that would make sense.
thanks,
John
