Hi Sarah,
I took a very quick look at your page source and two things jump out that might cause issues:
1) There is a mix of html and xhtml in the page, with a html 4.01 doctype. Most notably there are self closing tags ( <xxx /> ) which are xhtml and could cause some browsers to have problems.
2) There is text in several places that doesn't have tags (like the paragraph <p></p> tag) defining it as such. Again, this might cause problems in some browsers.
I don't have access to IE6, and cannot confirm if either of these issues is the cause of the display problem.
Run your page against the W3C's validation service (
http://validator.w3.org/ ) to see detail on these issues. Even if these aren't the cause of your IE6 issue, fixing them will improve your page's structure.
One other suggestion: I don't know what you can change or what is automagically generated on your page, but I would bring the entire page up to xhtml 1.0 transitional if possible. I like the page layout, btw... very well organized.
Hope this helps!

Subject: [IUG] IE6 and blank/white screens
We recently rescoped, and we're beta, and I do have a call open (since Feb 7) with no response, so I am hoping someone on the list can help with part of the problem.
In IE6 only, when we go to
http://www.saclibrarycatalog.org/search~S51,
the page stays blank/white UNTIL one moves the mouse over the page and it sometimes takes several minutes to load. I seem to recall there being an IE/CSS bug related to this but I have been unsuccessful in googling it. I don't think the problem is in top or bottom logo, since the search results display OK.
Thanks :-)
