The SmartFilter software is running on an ISA server, which is running on a Windows 2003 R2 server. It utilizes XHTML pages and jboss. The IIS server can handle scripts in ASP, Perl, PHP, etc. I've added some extra packages to the server to allow for non-native languages.
The software is using XHTML pages which I am altering for our purposes. Currently, we are only prompting for the patron's barcode and then checking the patron record for a code which is in the Pcode2 field in the patron record.
Another thing I thought I'd do was add some javascript to page to validate the barcode entry (numbers only, length checks, etc.) I think some of this invalid data entry has caused us some problems in the past and I wanted to clean it up. However, I am running into the old problem with the transforms and characters like "<", ">" and "&". Nothing I've tried to get around this problem has worked, so I'll probably have to add some of this logic to the server-side script, too, in addition to the PATRONAPI call to the III server.
Wylie has already passed along some code he used and I am working with that.

You may receive more responses if you mention a specific scripting language.
I have one which is ColdFusion based.

Richard,
I have a couple functions I wrote some time back in classic ASP that I'd
be happy to share if you're interested.

Subject: [IUG] Need code to utilize PATRON API
We are in the process of converting our ILS system to Millennium.
Currently, we have content filtering software in our library -
SmartFilter from Secure Computing - and we customized the web pages to
access the patron record by barcode, then check a code in the patron
record to see if they are authorized to override the filters.
I need to recreate this process utilizing the PATRON API call to the
Millennium server. Before digging in and writing some code, I wondered
if anyone has already done something like this and would be willing to
share their code.
Thanks in advance.
