[IUG] Patron Self-Registration add-on?

Hello List,

I was hoping to get some opinions about the Patron Self-Registration add-on.  For folks that are using it:
  -- does it work well?
  -- was it easy enough to set up and get it looking/working the way you wanted?
  -- [optional: was it very expensive?]

Do you think the ease of use makes it *significantly* better than using a "regular" online form (writing to an email or database)?
