Happy
Holidays everyone!
I'm kind of de-lurking here today, so I'll mention a bit about my
library system. We're a new Innovative customer, migrating from Geac
Plus to Innovative. The consortium consists of 50+ public libraries in
Northeastern Wisconsin, all members of the Outagamie Waupaca and
Nicolet Library Systems. Our go live date is about a month and a half
away, and we're busily trying to get all of the bits and pieces worked
out.
My question today is about notices. I still haven't figured out an
acceptable method delivering these to my libraries, many of which are
very small. They all open at different times, so I'm hesitant to have
the notices run manually, because I'm concerned about system response
issues and locked records. I'd love to use auto notices, but both the
emailed and the ftp'd versions of the notices need to be formatted in a
separate program before printing - something I don't think my libraries
can do.
What I'm playing around with is using auto notices to send them via FTP
to a server, using some kind of script to insert a control code to
indicate the page break, then using another program to automatically
convert them to pdf. This would enable my libraries to simply pick
them up from the server and print them.
I've read through the archives and haven't found any mention of a
solution to this problem - although if I've missed it, please let me
know. Does anyone out there have a better solution? Is there a way of
handling this within Innovative without having to either manually run
the invoices, or manually format them? Has anyone else developed a
solution outside of Innovative for delivery of notices?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
