Lisa -- When we have had problems with Data Exchange, it has always been
with the server, not the Millennium Client. We have been pretty happy
with it.
I agree with what Will Porter said and suggest that as a temporary
measure, you download it onto your PC and then pull the file in that
way. Can you tell us what remote server you are trying to get? I ask
this because OCLC forces us to change our EDX password every three
months (I am pretty sure that is the case). I was pulling my hair
trying to get that to work.
I have a Data Exchange manual for our staff that I am going to put into
the IUG Clearinghouse. I use the MACROs to make it all work nicely. We
can go to a remote directory pretty easily with MARCIVE, OCLC, YBP, and
our local IT for patron loads.

P.S. I know that everyone on the helpdesk is trying to do their job, but
do not feel as though you cannot escalate a call. If something is not
working at your library, then it is important to you! We all self
monitor the priorities with things that are broken (for example, my car
would be a bigger concern than the kids' GameCube...though they might
disagree). If something is standing in the way of getting your work
done, follow through with Innovative and talk with one of the managers.
They are all listed on CSDirect for this very reason.

Hello,
We were having an issue with Data Exchange (unable to access the remote
directory) in Millennium and opened a call to III. Tech support
eventually identified the problem as being software-based, and forwarded
the help request to "software engineering." Apparently, Software
Engineering says that priority for issues like this depends on how many
libraries are affected. We are therefore wondering if anyone else has
had a similar problem.
Thank you,
Lisa
