It appears to me that you already have the ability to add comments. Based
upon the syntax found for including special characters such as shift in
macros on #105847, you appear to abe able to slap comments in between two
percent signs. This appears not to have any ill effect, being ignored by the
system. I added my comment to the end of some useful code, and the code
still executed. I imagine that it would also be possible to include the
comment before the useful code or even lodge it between tokens that do
something.

Example: %ALT+g%l %NOTHING IN PARTICULAR%
The code is copied from cataloging module F5, shortcut to lists, and appears
to behave normally. Be careful not to make your comment exactly the same as
a code that does something (e.g. %TAB% would generate a tab).

Does this constitute an undocumented feature (and not in the sense of a
bug)?

Also, remember making a template to fit over the function keys is most
useful to the user as opposed to the definer of the keys.

Good Luck,

Subject: Function Keys-- adding description to macro?

We're working more with macros now that they're in Settings in Silver,
and we're wondering if anyone has come up with a way to annotate the
macros to make it clear what they are. The ones that are just text are,
of course, obvious, but some really need a label. For example, if we
have a macro that's ".b1234567", we'd like to be able to add a string of
text that says "C-fly bib record." The default ones could really use
descriptions, too, like "Change Mode to Quick Edit."

Of course, these can be documented on paper, and staff need lists or
labels so they can know which function key is which, but it seems like
it would be good to have these annotated in the system itself, similar
to the way templates and funds have both codes and descriptions.

Ideally, I'd like to see III add a label field for these, but I was
wondering of anyone has come up with a way to comment these. Is there
some code or tricky thing that would cause the system to stop seeing the
keystrokes, so any additional text would just be there for users who are
looking at the macros list in Settings?
