Hi,
I wouldn't say our notices are so friendly, but I'll always remember a
library at a consortium where I previously work that sent out a first
notice something like:
"Look behind the sofa and under the bed! It's past time for your
borrowed library items to come home."
Probably didn't get the wording quite right, but it didn't sound so very
serious & she felt her patrons appreciated that.

Subject: Friendly notices
I'm interested in getting the text of "friendly" notices for overdues,
holds and bills. Our notice text just came straight over from our
previous system where we were severely limited to the number of
characters in the notice, and while to the point, our notices are blunt
and a bit cryptic. During training, our trainer adlibbed some more
friendly text, but we were a bit distracted at that point in time.
Anyway, if you'd like to share the text of your notices please either
post to the list or contact me directly. TIA Happy Holidays
