Reference/Instruction Librarian
Missouri Southern State College seeks an innovative and energetic professional to provide reference/instruction services in both print and electronic formats. Responsibilities: Develop and teach general and subject specific library instruction sessions and workshops, working with other public service librarians. Coordinate library instruction on campus and with outside groups. Create and maintain handouts and bibliographies on library resources. Assist in the evaluation and selection of print and electronic information sources. Provide evening and weekend reference assistance on a rotational basis. Serve on library and campus-wide committees. Required: ALA-accredited MLS; at least two years’ professional library experience; strong customer-service orientation; excellent oral and written communication skills; personal computer expertise Preferred: Experience with III; academic library experience; web page design Candidates will present a sample lecture during interview. This is a 12-month faculty status appointment reporting directly to the Head Librarian. Salary and faculty rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Evaluation begins upon receipt of packet of credentials and continues until the position is filled. Start date July 2002.
