- Subject: Extended Approval Plan: Summary of Responses
Colleagues,
I received quite a few responses from libraries which have the Extended
Approval Plan module, though there was a lot of initial confusion
because of the name of the module.
Most libraries which reported using the module use it for firm orders,
though a couple responders are using it for approval books. Most
libraries seem to be happy with it.
It is being used with a variety of book vendors, Yankee, Blackwells, DA
Information, Academic, and BBS specifically mentioned, with the bib
records usually coming from OCLC via PromptCat.
Only caveats I received:
One library indicated it took almost a year to iron out the details
among III, OCLC, and two approval vendors.
One library reports not being able to use it yet because the current
version cannot handle partial receipts of multiple copies.
Another library mentioned not using it for multiple or replacement
copies.
