My technique for dealing with multiple fields in delimited output from
Create Lists is as follows:

1. When given the option as to which delmiter to use I change the default to
the caret (^).

When this kicks in due to multiple fields, it comes out in the CSV file
as quote+caret+quote.

2. Because its the quotes around the caret that cause the problem when
importing to a spreadsheet or database table, I use NoteTab -- a excellent
text editor and even free if you don't want to spend $20 for the full blown
version -- and do a find/replace, changing the quote+caret+quote to
space+vertical bar+space.

This allows the the data to be imported properly, but manual cleanup is
necessary after this if the intention is to use the data in relational
queries, etc. The space-vertical bar+space offers a visible and "findable"
delimiter when working the the data and correcting or editing the fields
where multiple data is found.

Subject: output to Access file

I am trying to convert data from our Community Information module to an
Access file. I have used the create a list function, user selected output
to get the data into comma delimited format, saved it as a .txt file, and
opened that file in Access. I can't get it to work properly -- no luck
with repeated fields. Has anyone tried this? Are there instructions
somewhere in the manual?

Thanks
