| Presented Also As: | Session N6 on Wednesday 10:30-11:30 in Union Square 23 |
| Description: | The III system is a powerful tool for collecting and using information on who requested which materials. In this session we will describe several ways that an academic library inputs, collects, and disseminates this information. These include: coding each order in the fixed-length fields as to which department ordered, having the selector name as a variable field, and a SCAT table with a detailed call number breakdown. This data is used in many ways, including generating monthly emails to each person who requested items, monthly lists of items ordered by selector name and department, annual summaries of items ordered by each department, and annual summaries of items ordered by call number area. Most applicable to academic and special libraries. Will be understandable to intermediate and advanced users, but also may help beginners plan how to set up their order records. |
